I Spy The Slut Next Door Review

I Spy The Slut Next Door is not a show for everyone. It’s a show that either resonates with you deeply or you hate it passionately. The writing is often clunky and the actresses do their best with what they are given but it isn’t enough to make up for some of the glaring plot holes that pop up. Gladys is still a control freak, Lynette gives thanks to a dead rat that saved her marriage in an embarrassing scene and even though the cast is good overall, it feels like there aren’t any real character progressions.

This Netflix original will be remembered for its sexy scenes. They are very well done. They’re also the reason it’s hard to believe this show is aimed towards teens.

The series manages to evoke some cringeworthy teen moments, which will appeal to the intended audience. It has a sense of humor that doesn’t take itself too seriously, gleefully laughing at the brattiest behavior while simultaneously shaking its head lovingly at impossibly smart boys booby-trapping their sisters hair-dryers and the preteen girls attempting to fill out their training bras in an effort to impress the adorably Jewfroed boy who mows their lawns.

But it’s the enigmatic character of Leila that’s really the stand out. Yoo plays the character with a level of confidence that’s rare in this genre. It’s a character who has to straddle that line between being annoying and utterly believable and she pulls it off brilliantly.
